Housekeeper

Primary Responsibilities

Daily Tasks:

• Clean and sanitize classrooms, including floors, tables, chairs, and high-touch surfaces.

• Maintain restrooms by cleaning toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenishing supplies.

• Clean and sanitize kitchen and dining areas, including countertops, tables, and floors.

• Empty trash and recycling bins, replacing liners as needed.

• Sanitize frequently touched areas such as door handles, light switches, and railings.

Weekly Tasks:

• Perform deep cleaning of classrooms, including dusting shelves and cleaning carpets or rugs.

• Inspect and clean outdoor play areas and equipment.

• Check and restock cleaning supplies and report inventory shortages.

• Deep clean restrooms, including scrubbing tiles and disinfecting fixtures.

Monthly Tasks:

• Organize and clean storage areas for cleaning supplies and other materials.

• Clean windows, blinds, and curtains.

• Maintain cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, mops) and replace worn-out parts.

• Inspect the facility for safety hazards and report any maintenance concerns.

• Deep clean kitchen appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, and ovens.

As Needed:

• Respond to special cleaning requests for events or unexpected messes.

• Assist with emergency cleanup, including spills and accidents.

• Participate in seasonal deep cleaning (e.g., spring cleaning, holiday cleaning).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience, especially in a childcare, school, or healthcare setting, is a plus.

• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemical usage, and safety procedures.

• Ability to pass a background check and any required state/federal clearances for working in a preschool environment.

Other Requirements

• Must be able to lift at least 30-50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks.

• Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends if required.

• Adherence to health and safety guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning supplies.

• Must be reliable, responsible, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate with staff and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
